Holyrood Communications Ltd - The future of Housing in Scotland - 3rd Annual Holyrood Housing Conference
Holyrood magazine is excited to be staging its 3rd annual
Housing Conference, the Future of Housing in Scotland, in
Glasgow on 27 March.
2007 brings considerable challenges for those involved in the
housing sector in Scotland with green issues forcing their way
into the public consciousness. Communities Scotland recently
launched a consultation on raising green standards in social
housing and published The Sustainable Housing Design Guide for
Scotland. Coming hot on the heels of the Chancellors desire for
a new generation of zero-carbon homes, as stated in the
Pre-Budget Report, it appears that housing development and
design could find itself at the forefront of a battle to redress
climate change, which has huge implications for housing
providers, builders, developers and designers.
This one day conference provides an ideal forum to be involved
in discussions relating to green standards, eco-homes and
zero-carbon housing.
By attending this conference you will:
Learn about the financial implications of zero carbon housing;
Listen to ideas on new techniques in the architecture and
design of eco-homes;
Examine the policy on sustainable development in social
housing; and
Hear about the successful implementation of eco-homes in
social housing projects.
The Future for Housing in Scotland conference will examine these
and other subjects with specialist speakers from many different
fields of expertise including:
Councillor Ewan Aitken, Leader, The City of Edinburgh Council
Raymond Young OBE, Chair, Architecture + Design Scotland
Jacqui Watt, Chief Executive, Scottish Federation of Housing
Associations
Grant Hodges, Partner in Public Private Advisory,
PriceWaterhouseCoopers
Pierre DeFence, Technical Manager, Knowes Housing Association
Nick Fletcher, Policy & Public Affairs Officer, Chartered
Institute of Housing
Archie Stoddart, Director, Shelter Scotland
Jim Parker, Chairman, National Landlords Association
Tony OSullivan, Director, Newhaven Research
Jennifer Wallace, Policy Manager - Housing, Education & Local
Government, Scottish Consumer Council
Duncan Osler, Partner, MacRoberts
The conference will also focus on other leading issues for
housing in Scotland including:
Examination and guidance on the implementation of the Housing
(Scotland) Act 2006; and
The challenges ahead for affordable social housing.
