Gilberts (Blackpool) Ltd - £300,000 Contract for Ceiling Diffusers
One of the UK’s leading air distribution
companies has completed a contract worth over £300,00 to supply
diffusers for an impressive new office building, close to the
world famous Tate Modern gallery in south London.
The Blue Fin building, a 12-storey development with 500,000
square metres of office space, will be occupied by IPC Media and
parent company Time Warner’s other UK businesses. Staff at the
media organisation selected the name because of the 2000 blue
aluminium fins that cover the building’s external façade. These
change the appearance of the building as the sun moves around
and provide constant shade inside the offices.
Gilberts of Blackpool have designed, manufactured and supplied
over 3500 metres of Type GSL three and four slot linear ceiling
diffusers for 10 of the 12 floors. The three slot models are
installed around the room perimeters, while the four are for
internal areas. In addition, the company have supplied a large
number of floor grilles for the third floor computer room,
together with thermal and acoustic proofed plenum boxes fitted
with teleflex operated spigot dampers.
For this project the aluminium extruded slot diffusers are from
the new GSL series which feature a unique removable directional
control blade that allows horizontal or vertical air
distribution.
The diffusers were specified by consultant Flack & Kurtz and
installed by m & e contractors Westco.
