Cyclon Controls Ltd - Danfoss and Cylon Join Forces to Deliver Energy Savings
Danfoss and Cylon sign strategic
agreement to offer integrated VSD solution
26th February 2007, Danfoss and Cylon Controls, jointly announce
that they have signed a strategic partnership agreement based on
the ground-breaking VLTR HVAC Drive. This agreement sees the new
range of drives integrated in the Cylon UnitronUC32 Building
Energy Management System. As part of the agreement Cylon will
now sell the VLTR HVAC Drive through its network of 80 approved
system integrators.
Rapid advances in VSDs over the last 10 years have
revolutionised the technology for HVAC applications to the point
where it is rare for a major new building project not to have
full VSD control of the HVAC system linked to the BEMS.
Considering the widely varying weather conditions, it is
inevitable that all of the fans and pumps must, by definition,
be oversized most of the time. In point of fact, even under the
most extreme operating conditions, the vast majority of systems
are designed with what can only be described as a generous
'service factor' and seldom work beyond 75% capacity. A BEMS
which includes integrated VSDs can take advantage of this
reality and dramatically reduce energy costs. For example a
speed reduction of only 25% would result in a 42% reduction in
energy absorbed while a 50% reduction in fan or pump
speed, not at all uncommon, reduces energy consumption by a
remarkable 87.5%.
"Danfoss and Cylon products are very similar in design
philosophy in that they both have smart energy control built in.
This agreement with allow our customers easily to order a single
solution combining best in class BEMS with the world's leading
drives" commented Alan Long, Sales Director at Cylon Controls.
"The new VLTR HVAC Drive is the latest series from Danfoss which
has been designed to harness the benefits that comes from a well
installed BEMS. We are delighted to have an out of the box
solution with Cylon and look forward to growing business
together across all our joint markets" commented John Martin,
Danfoss' Strategic Business Area manager.
