As a result of severe flooding
in Oxfordshire during July 2007, Carterton Community
College suffered flood damage to over 2000m2 of
various floor areas. Tarkett flooring solutions were
specified throughout the refurbishment program,
including a specialist performance vinyl floor for
the Sports Hall.
The 600m2 Sports Hall had to be stripped and dried
by a specialist flood restoration company before the
new flooring could be laid. Keith Eighteen, General
Manager of Sherfield Flooring, specified Tarkett’s
Omnisports Pro for this area of the school.
Commenting on the work Keith said: “Omnisports is a
very quick product to install as it comes in 2m
widths with good size roll lengths. It both grooves
and welds very well, and provides an excellent
playing surface for a wide range of sports.”
Omnisports Pro is a vinyl sports floor covering
featuring a fibreglass interlayer for dimensional
stability with a highly cellurised PVC foam backing
to provide impact absorption and acoustic comfort.
The Sanitized® wear layer provides an anti-bacterial
coating and the surface is also protected with Top
Clean XP®, a dirt-resistant treatment designed to
make maintenance easier. It is available in 10
different colours, and 4 wood finishes.
Finished in maple wood effect, the new sports
flooring at Carterton has been marked up with
polyurethane line paint for 7 different games.
Designed specifically to cope with such mixed use,
Omnisports Pro’s 7.7mm thickness provides shock
absorbency and surface deformation at the point of
impact, helping to reduce the risk of injury. The
Top Clean XP surface allows for controlled sliding
and ease of foot movement but with enough grip to
prevent slipping.
The Omnisports range also includes two other
specifications – Training, at 5mm thickness, and
Competition at 8.8mm. The entire range offers cost
effective, high performance sports floorcovering
that has been fully tested to BS standards to meet
traction, slip resistance, indentation and ball
rebound requirements.
