A range of ventilation products is now
available from roofing specialist Cembrit Blunn to complement
its fibre cement and natural roofing slates. Practical and
efficient, ventilation products from Cembrit Blunn do not
compromise on aesthetic appearance and have been specifically
designed to correspond with current mandatory requirements. All
vents are manufactured to match the profile, ridge design, tile
size and surface texture of the roof, and are colour matched to
blend discreetly with the roof slates. A special coating ensures
the ventilators withstand UV radiation, temperature fluctuations
and general weathering.
“Roof ventilation is often inadequate despite the wealth of
guidelines that exist and this can be even more of an issue for
roof repairs or refurbishment. To make things easier for our
customers we’ve developed roof ventilation products that enable
our range of slates to be used on almost all roofs as well as
fulfilling the Building Regulation requirements” explains Ged
Ferris, Marketing Manager at Cembrit Blunn. “High humidity
provides perfect growing conditions for mould fungi, dust mites
and other micro-organisms. This can aggravate respiratory
problems such as asthma and allergies. Use of air vents
encourage internal air circulation which combats humidity - with
the added benefit that dry air is cheaper to heat than humid
air! Plus our ventilation products are highly efficient and
remove moisture from the air even when it is raining.”
Cembrit Blunn has created a portfolio of ventilators at
different price levels that meet the mandatory requirements as
well as fulfilling the growing demand for unobtrusive
ventilation. In addition to low cost traditional cowl or “bump”
vents, low profile or “in-line” vents are set into a plastic
surround and are available with a colour and texture similar to
the fibre-cement or natural slates Cembrit Blunn sell. The top
of the range is “Slate vent 2” which incorporates the low
profile ventilation component inset in a natural slate helping
to camouflage the ventilator as the vent slate has an identical
appearance to its neighbouring slates and will weather at the
same rate. The ventilators are well proven in the UK climate and
will last as long as the surrounding slates.
Using skills built up over 80 years, Cembrit Blunn select
natural slate, fibre cement slates and roofing accessories from
the finest quarries and manufacturers worldwide. Quality levels
at Group factories are rigorously maintained to high standards
with fibre cement slates produced to BS EN 492:2004 and
manufactured under the control of a BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 quality
management system. Cembrit Blunn is a member of the Dansk
Eternit Holding A/S Group of Denmark, one of Europe’s major
building material producers of fibre reinforced cement products
for the roofing and cladding industry. The ultimate parent
company FL Smidth this year celebrates its 125 year anniversary.
