ISG has secured a £4.7 million project to build a
new 102 room Express by Holiday Inn hotel in Burnley, Lancashire for
client, Starboard Hotels. Occupying a key strategic site in the
town, the new hotel is bordered by Pendle Way and the M65 motorway
and provides high quality air conditioned guest bedrooms as well as
incorporating a range of meeting room facilities for business users.
Work has now commenced on the construction of the four-storey
building, which comprises a ground floor steel frame structure and
pre-cast concrete upper floors. A key feature of the new hotel is
the large open plan ‘Great Room’, with dining facilities and a
licensed bar. Externally, the hotel has a modern contemporary design
with a range of architectural finishes to its façade, including rain
screen cladding, brickwork and curtain walling.
ISG will carry out a range of hard and soft landscaping works at the
site and create a large car park for guests, with the project
scheduled for completion by summer 2008. Craig Tatton, managing
director of ISG’s regional business, commented: "The latest in a
growing portfolio of hotel and leisure schemes recently secured by
ISG, the award of the Express by Holiday Inn at Burnley underlines
our commitment to take a greater share of this important growth
sector. ISG is currently building high profile leisure developments
in Farnborough, Barnsley, South Leeds and Ashton Moss in Manchester,
with a combined value of over £54 million and we are looking to
further enhance our exposure to schemes within this key arena.”
