ISG Jackson has commenced work on a £6
million design & build project with Standard Life Investments Ltd to
construct a four-storey commercial office building on Woodbridge
Road in Guildford, Surrey. With significant demand for modern, high
specification office accommodation, the new development will provide
30,500 sq ft of Grade A space, and is set to prove an attractive
location for both local and national businesses wishing to establish
a high profile presence within the town.
Sympathetically designed to reduce its impact on the local built
environment, the new office building has a stepped back profile at
either end and a range of finishes to the façade, including
brickwork, stone cladding, coloured render panels and extensive
curtain walling. The concrete-frame structure features an impressive
corporate reception area and three-storeys of open plan office
accommodation, with a part steel-frame fourth storey set back from
the façade, and a basement car park with bicycle storage area.
The building has been designed to achieve a 'very good' BREEAM
environmental rating and utilises an efficient ground source heat
pump, which exploits renewable energy stored in the ground to
supplement a traditional boiler system. The project is scheduled for
completion in October 2008.
Peter Woodnott, director of ISG Jackson's Commercial division,
commented: "Guildford has a buoyant local economy and with high
quality commercial office space at a premium, we confidently expect
this high profile development to generate much interest. The
building has been carefully designed to complement the local built
environment, whilst its impressive green credentials help to
minimise the overall impact of the development.”
