Wavin - Providing new career guidance
Wavin Plastics, the UK’s leading provider of water management
solutions, is helping students who want to pursue careers as
plumbers and heating engineers.
Over the past 12 months the company has produced a series of
installation guides based around its OSMA Underfloor Heating
systems. As well as students, the guides target apprentice and
professional trades people.
Spokersperson for Wavin Plastics, Denise O’Leary, said: “As a
company we support educational institutions in their strategies for
improving students’ learning experiences. By liaising directly with
them, we can help identify priorities and advise on innovative
practices within the water management arena.
“These installation guides have been developed as part of our drive
to simplify both the selection of Underfloor Heating (UFH) and its
use. Thousands of young people enter engineering and plumbing
professions every year and it is important the most relevant
up-to-date information is available to them.”
OSMA Underfloor Heating offers five easy to install systems, making
it simple for installers to choose the right one for any project.
The five systems include three for screeded floors: Staples, System
Plates and Pocketed Polystyrene and two for timber floors: Foiled
Polystyrene and Modular Chipboard.
Wavin collaborates with educational institutions in many different
areas in a variety of ways. An example of this is the productive
working relationship the company has with SNG Publishing which is
responsible for HIP! magazine, issued three times a year to final
year heating engineer and plumbing students at colleges across the
country.
Through HIP! magazine, Wavin has been able to issue useful product
information in a variety of formats. A CD detailing the company’s
innovative approach to water management was distributed earlier this
year, while there has also been a special insert on Underfloor
Heating and a handy pocket-sized step-by-step guide for installing
UFH onto screeded floors.
Managing Director at SNG Publishing Ltd, Celia Matthews, said:
“Since the magazine was launched in September 2006, Wavin’s
contribution to the success of HIP! has been invaluable.
“Wavin Plastics is one of the most respected and knowledgeable
companies serving the trade. The company brings first class
expertise to the table and its contributions are very relevant to
the needs of final year students and apprentices.”
Denise adds: “Through partnerships with publications like HIP! Wavin
is supporting the next generation of trades people.”
