Targetfollow - Plans lodged for prestigious development

The detailed planning application for Targetfollow’s Duke’s Wharf development in Norwich has been submitted. The ambitious plans proposed by Targetfollow are set to transform the former Eastern Electricity site into a new vibrant commercial quarter for Norwich city centre.

The development, which has been designed by local architects Feilden + Mawson will include a mix of uses including offices, restaurants and shops, residential accommodation, and an art gallery. The scheme will provide high quality public realm, publicly accessible art work and the introduction of a riverside walk.

Subject to approval, Targetfollow hopes to commence on site works early next year with the first occupants moving into the scheme within two years. One of the first occupiers will be Targetfollow itself, as one of the buildings within Duke’s Wharf will become the company’s new European headquarters.

James Smith, Targetfollow’s development manager says, “We believe the planning application submitted reflects not only what Norwich needs in order to maintain and enhance its business environment within the City Centre but will also result in a new high quality destination for people to live and visit the cafés and restaurants.”

Philip Bodie, partner of Feilden + Mawson says “Duke’s Wharf will bring real benefits to this area of Norwich and we look forward to playing our part in securing the City’s vibrant future.”

Recent exploratory archaeological investigations have revealed glimpses of the former ducal palace as well as early industrial activities that took place on the site including quarrying, cloth dying and more recently a Victorian brewery. A more extensive excavation is expected to be confirmed as part of the planning process and will be undertaken in the New Year.
