Hughes Brothers Ltd has won an
Avanta Award, being named National Partner of the
Year for its continued success in helping recruit
and train unemployed individuals for roles in the
construction industry.
Hughes Brothers has worked closely with Carol
Blackwood of TNG, part of the Avanta Group, for the
last 3 years offering work placements which lead to
full time employment in the construction industry.
In the last year Hughes Brothers has helped over 30
people secure employment in the North West.
In particular, Hughes Brothers has been commended
for working closely with local prisons helping
reformed offenders back into the working community.
The Avanta Awards recognise both individuals, and
the companies who work with them, overcoming
personal or work difficulties in order to move from
Benefits into employment, and from unemployment into
entrepreneurship.
Janette Faherty, CEO of Avanta, said: “Hughes
Brothers is a great example of the partners Avanta
works closely with in order to create opportunities
for the unemployed. Hughes Brothers’ commitment to
recruiting locally has brought economic prosperity
to the Manchester area. They continue to help give
individuals of diverse backgrounds, including
ex-offenders, a chance to move into employment.”
Andy Burnham, MP for the Greater Manchester
constituency of Leigh, said: “Avanta has helped many
of my constituents, especially through partnerships
with companies like Hughes Brothers. The company has
provided support to Avanta and its clients from
initial contact to sustainable employment. They
offer placements that lead to real jobs and enable
trainees to learn the vital skills needed in the
construction industry. They have demonstrated their
social conscience by practicing real diversity in
recruiting, including working with local prisons to
provide opportunities for ex-offenders.”
