Earthcare - celebrates ten years of Sustainable Business
Founded in October1997, Earthcare
provides advice, products and services that are at the
cutting edge in terms of energy efficiency and
sustainable low environmental impact.
Earthcare has become the first point of contact for
engineers who wish to specify the most energy efficient
and environmentally friendly cooling solutions.
Earthcare is increasingly called upon by industry
leaders to help solve the most difficult of their
technical challenges. For those investing in systems
that must anticipate evolving building regulations (such
as Part L), or who need to score the highest green
ratings (BREEAM), Earthcare provides clarity in a
rapidly evolving landscape.
“Our business is dedicated to bringing tomorrow’s
solutions to the market today. Earthcare’s products
minimise life-cycle costs in the most environmentally
friendly manner possible”, says Nicholas Cox, Managing
Director of Earthcare. Earthcare is at the cutting edge
of research and development. The Company pursues an
ongoing programme developing intellectual property,
achievements to date include: In 1998, using grant
funding from the DETR ‘Partners in Technology Scheme’
Earthcare developed and launched a new range of Very
Environmentally Friendly heat pump air conditioning
split systems.
In 1999, Earthcare designed, installed and commissioned
the largest air conditioning thermal storage system in
the UK, using ammonia and aqueous urea slurry-ice. Since
then Earthcare developed a full range of hydrocarbon air
cooled chillers up to 1265KW capacity and their own
range of ground source heat pumps
In 2005, Earthcare completed the Carbon Trust funded
development of an integrated low energy refrigeration,
air conditioning and heating system for supermarkets.
More recently, an agreement with the Odessa State
Academy of Refrigeration in the Ukraine gives Earthcare
the exclusive right to commercialise its research into
low environmental impact refrigerants and funding by
E-Synergy from its £30m Sustainable Technology Fund has
allowed Earthcare to develop and patent three new high
pressure azeotropic refrigerants.
