Chief Executive of support services and
construction company Carillion, John McDonough was joined on
site by client Dudley Infracare LIFT Chief Executive John Coyne,
to check on two key regeneration schemes in Dudley worth more
than £55million. Carillion Regional Building Division is working
on the town’s new health and social care centre, while Carillion
Civil Engineering Division is constructing the Sustainable
Access Network. The two schemes are worth in total over £55
million.
The £26 million health and social care centre and the £28.6
million road scheme both started in April. Carillion’s two
divisions are working closely together to ensure disruption to
the town is kept to a minimum during construction. The two
Carillion business units have also committed to the Signpost to
Success charter aimed at ensuring employment and training
opportunities are focused on local people.
John McDonough, Chief Executive, Carillion said:
“It’s good to see work progressing so well and Carillion playing
a key role in the regeneration of the Brierley Hill through
these two major schemes. We have a long term relationship with
Dudley Council and have an interest in DIL Ltd, hopefully we
will continue to bring our skills and expertise to bear in
Brierley Hill and the borough in the future.
“I’m pleased that both divisions have signed up to the ‘Signpost
to Success’ charter. The charter means we will work with local
partners, including the Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership,
to ensure employment and training opportunities are focused on
local people. This will ensure there are the skilled people for
the future and is part of our commitment to the communities in
which we operate to take actions today that help make tomorrow a
better place.”
John Coyne, Chief Executive Dudley Infracare LIFT, said:
“It was good to give John McDonough a briefing on the LIFT
scheme and show him the major earthworks and land enabling,
funded through AWM, which are currently being undertaken. The
two schemes are being built at the same time and are in close
proximity, but due to excellent cooperation between Carillion’s
two divisions, both projects are on schedule and disruption to
shoppers, visitors and motorists is being minimised.
