Wood Awards - Celebrate five years of winning with wood
Around 200 architectural, design, and
wood professionals attended the 2007 Wood Awards, Britain’s
premier award scheme for wood in buildings and furniture, held
last week (20 October) at Carpenters’ Hall in London. Hugh
Pearman of RIBA Journal and the Sunday Times hosted the event
and awarded trophies to winners and runners up in five
categories, with Feilden Clegg Bradley’s Formby Pool, winner of
the Commercial & Public Access category, also picking up the top
prize, the 2007 Gold Award.
Five years on, The Wood Awards continues to raise the profile of
wood, the only naturally sustainable building material, by
showcasing outstanding design and superlative craftsmanship in a
broad range of applications, including furniture.
The Wood Awards is supported by twenty generic sponsors, led by
the American Hardwood Export Council, the Carpenters’ Company,
the Forestry Commission and wood for good.
