When the swimming pool surround, changing facilities, showers and sauna required refurbishment, the proven duo of ARDEX UK and Cerface Limited Floor and Wall Tiling Contractors of Gillingham in Kent worked together to provide the perfect system solution.
To fix the wall tiles within the showers, changing rooms and sauna, ARDEX D 30 Commercial and Domestic Ready Mixed Wall Tile Adhesive was used. ARDEX D 30’s high adhesion strength after water immersion and at elevated temperatures makes it ideal for commercial and domestic showers, kitchens and bathrooms. Suitable for virtually all substrates and tile types including porcelain, ARDEX D 30 does not need a primer and is easy to use with excellent application properties, saving you valuable time as well as money.
Prior to the new floor tiles being fixed, the pool surround received an application of ARDEX EB 2 rapid hardening screed that ensures a strong and flat base, whilst allowing tiles to be fixed just 3 hours later.

In addition, the floors and walls were then treated with ARDEX WPC, providing a rapid drying waterproof protection coat. ARDEX WPC helps to minimise downtime as tile fixing can commence just 2 hours after application of the second waterproof coat, significantly quicker than other systems on the market which require up to 24 hours drying time before further work can commence.
ARDEX X 7 R Rapid Setting Flexible Tile Adhesive was used to fix the pool surround floor tiles. Suitable for fixing all types of wall and floor tiles including porcelain, ARDEX X 7 R is ready to be walked on and grouted just 2 hours after application. Thanks to the C2 FT classification, ARDEX X 7 R is the perfect choice for kitchens, offices, showers and swimming pools where minimising downtime is essential. Add to that excellent slump resistance, superior application properties and suitability for use with underfloor heating, it is clear to see why ARDEX X 7 R has rapidly become a favourite with tiling contractors.

ARDEX-FLEX FL Rapid Setting, Flexible Tile Grout with built-in admix, was chosen in grey to grout the floor tile joints, with ARDEX-FLEX FS grout in white specified for grouting the wall tiles. ARDEX-FLEX tile grouts incorporate key features including flexibility, water repellence, ease of application and dirt resistance, which combine to ensure the perfect conclusion to any tiling installation.
