Day success
The 5th annual AET ‘Flexible Space Open Golf Championship’ recently
took place at the challenging but charming Tandridge Golf Club in
Surrey. Over 27 holes at one of the UK’s top 100 courses, fifty
members of the building services industry battled it out for honour,
glory and prizes. With the reigning champion unable to defend his
title, the way was clear for a new name to be engraved on the
trophy. After a closely-fought contest, retired partner of KPMG,
Roger Oldfield, took the title of ‘Flexible Space Open Golf
Champion’ with an impressive 37 Stableford Points.
AET’s Flexible Space Open Golf Championship is one of the highlights
of the building services golfing calendar and participation has
increased year on year. High spirits for the contest-to-come ensured
that early cloud cover was driven away, and after a superb buffet
lunch a welcome showing of the afternoon sun created perfect golfing
conditions for the players to compete for the main prize, as well as
nearest pin, longest drive and a putting contest.
Glan Blake Thomas, MD of AET who presented the awards in the
atmospheric Tudor club house, commented: “This was our biggest golf
day so far from a numbers point of view and has grown into a real
occasion. We’ve made many new friends over the years and amongst the
regulars it was gratifying this year to welcome many more new ones.
The competition was fierce as always, and the course superb.
Congratulations to all who took part and I’m looking forward to next
year already.”
