Schneider Electric - New servo motion solution packs a punch

Recognising the need for simplified and open high speed and precision servo motion, Schneider Electric has introduced a solution offer called Lexium PAC that combines high quality servo motors with state of the art amplifiers and motion controls. Complementing the offer is simplified programming software as well as open communications and embedded Transparent Ready web server
                            technology.

The Lexium PAC range is ideal for a broad range of machines from material handling and transfer machines, assembly machines, inspection machines and any machines working “on the fly” such as cutting and printing. All standard motion control functions are provided with up to 8 synchronised axes at high speed (2ms for 4 axes) enabling linear and circular interpolation. Data capture for distance and position measurements is also an impressive 30ųs. Other advanced features include cam profiles for slave axes and programmable logic switch control.

One of the key features of all Schneider Electric automation equipment is the ability to address devices via any standard web browser using Transparent Ready technology. The system also supports Modbus as standard as well as CANopen, Ethernet TCP/IP and Profibus DP V1. The Lexium PAC also integrates seamlessly with all other Schneider Electric automation products such as Altivar drives, Advantys remote I/O, Tesys Model U motor starters, Magelis HMIs and the latest Modicon M340 machine controller.

The Lexium motion controller is sufficiently powerful to require no other PLCs for many applications. Programming is quick and simple using function block libraries. It is also easy to debug the complete installation using the intuitive tools. Of particularly compact design, the Lexium controller saves panel space and is also therefore ideal for small machines.

Complementing the motion control elements of the Lexium PAC offer are the Lexium 05 and 15 servo drive amplifiers and the low mass, high dynamic response BSH or BDH servo motors.

There are two software options within the Lexium PAC offer: Easy Motion for axes configuration and editing; and Motion Pro which has all the features and benefits of Easy Motion, but also has IEC 61131 compliant software, electronic signaturing and program code protection.

As an option, Lexium controller has a multilingual remote graphic terminal for programming, diagnostics and maintenance. The unit has high legibility and comes with graphic visualisations.

Schneider Electric automation products carry the name Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric.
