02 October 2007: 38 people joined Corus
Panels and Profiles for the launch of ComFlor 60®, an innovative
new composite floor profile that offers the ultimate in
lightweight steel decking for all multi-rise buildings.
Representatives from Corus’ principal installers, Studwelders
and Northern Steel Decking, along with other customers including
Prodeck Fixing and a selection of structural engineers within
the region, joined Corus at its Tewkesbury site to see the
manufacture of this new structural composite flooring system in
progress.
Adrian Bellingham, Business Development Manager at Corus Panels
and Profiles, comments: “ComFlor 60® boasts a state-of-the-art
profile that has been developed using roll-forming techniques
pioneered by Corus, drawing on 20 years experience in designing
advanced composite flooring solutions. Combining an optimised
profile design that gives an exceptional unpropped spanning
capability of up to 4.5 metres with reduced concrete usage,
ComFlor 60® provides a cost-effective, sustainable floor
solution. “
Engineered with optional closed ends, ComFlor 60® provides
excellent acoustic performance and fire protection, with no
requirement for filler blocks. Additionally, its profile has
been specifically designed with trough stiffeners and side laps
positioned to guarantee centrally placed sheer studs – reducing
the need for on-site checking. In addition, ComFlor 60® is now
available with a Colorcoat® pre-finished steel coating to the
underside, offering improved aesthetics and durability,
ultimately minimising future maintenance.
Matthew Smith, Managing Director of Studwelders Ltd. comments:
“Studwelders has a reputation as a market leader in the design,
installation and studwelding of steel floor decking systems. We
are therefore delighted to be able to work together with Corus
in bringing the next generation in profile steel decks to
today’s fast track construction industry. ComFlor 60® is
manufactured with closed ends which helps to simplify the
installation, and with a cover width of just 600mm sheets are
lightweight making them easier to handle, and significantly
improving on-site health and safety benefits.”
