Fläkt Woods have been selected to provide
74 air handling units (AHUs), worth €6.5 million, from its EUMM
range for three large cruise liners recently commissioned by
Italian ship owner Costa Crociere S.p.A., a company within the
Carnival Corporation & plc. The vessels will be built at the
Fincantiere Marghera shipyard near Venice, Italy, will each
measure 292 meters in length and are designed to carry 2260
passengers with crew of some 900.
The EUMM range of AHUs chosen for these prestigious vessels is
manufactured specifically for marine and coastal environments.
It is a modular system offering flexibility of function, size
and process. The units feature flush fitting stainless steel
panelling with a 50mm thick double skin, housing rigid sheet
mineral wool insulation optimized for heat retention and sound
attenuation. All components are corrosion resistant to cater for
the corrosive, saline atmosphere of a working life on the oceans
of the world.
On receiving the order from Fincantieri Trieste, Italy, Anders
Mårtensson – Group Communications Manager of Fläkt Woods Group –
noted, “With its policy of manufacturing precise air movement
products Fläkt Woods has once again proven that another of its
ranges of equipment exactly matches the customer’s requirements.
The EUMM air handling units are specifically made for the
environment for which they have been selected. We are proud to
be involved in such a prestigious undertaking.”
