Wavin Plastics - Heating up new builds flats
Nineteen luxury new build flats under construction in
Newport, Wales will each have OSMA Underfloor Heating
installed to give residents the highest levels of
comfort when it comes to keeping warm.
Two blocks comprising 11 units have already been
completed by Piercefield Developments. A third block is
now underway with a further eight flats due to be
finished during the next four weeks.
UFH is rapidly growing in popularity with house builders
as it becomes the heating system of choice for
discerning homeowners.
Spokesperson for Wavin Plastics, Karly Taylor, explains:
“UFH provides radiant heat as opposed to traditional
heating by convection. Radiators result in a higher
temperature at ceiling level, whereas UFH distributes
heat evenly throughout the room without any floor
draughts.
“There is also around 15% more wall space in a room
without radiators which is great for arranging your
furniture. All walls can be used – ideal for those 42
inch widescreen TVs!”
OSMA Pocketed Polystyrene Underfloor Heating (UFH) from
Wavin Plastics – a leading UK provider of water
management solutions - was used for the ground floor.
Piercefield Development MD, Craig Sugar, comments: “We
opted for the Pocketed Polystyrene system because it is
a time-saving system suitable for screeded floors and
consists of insulation with machined channels to hold
the pipes at fixed centres.”
Foiled Polystyrene UFH was used on the first, second and
third floors – the perfect system for timber floors
which are joisted, battened or fully floating.
Insulation panels with factory-fitted aluminium foil
diffusers hold the pipe in place.
Craig adds: “We also used OSMA UFH from Wavin Plastics
because the company was quick to respond to our request
and we were confident the material would arrive on site
on time because we’ve worked with the company before and
they’ve always proved themselves reliable.”
