Naturalwatt - Green Site Office To Oversee £10m Store
Re-branding Development
The retail division of David McLean Contractors has
installed the Naturalwatt MicroGrid®, an environmentally
friendly, efficient natural energy system, at its
24-hour site office in Solihull.
David McLean Retail has set up the environmentally
friendly site office as part of its Corporate Social
Responsibility Policy and Naturalwatt was chosen to
provide the infrastructure, using its innovative
MicroGrid® system. Called an Eco-cabin, the site office
is currently being used to oversee a £10m store
re-branding development in Solihull.
Will Grafton, Managing Director of Naturalwatt says:
“David McLean was attracted by our system’s innovation,
reliability and the unprecedented level of control over
the renewable energy they are able to harvest at their
site office.
Carl Harris, Operations Manager of David McLean Retail,
says: “We are pleased to have Naturalwatt on board with
us for this project. By using this system we feel we are
making a huge contribution to reducing our carbon
footprint and when this project is completed we will be
able to take the technology with us to use on future
sites.”
Naturalwatt’s MicroGrid® solution for the David McLean
Eco-cabin
The Naturalwatt MicroGrid® supplied to David McLean’s
Eco-cabin is currently harvesting solar power to supply
electricity to the site office in Solihull. The
photovoltaic (PV) solar roof panels and associated
equipment are connected to the MicroGrid® controller.
The controller is in-turn connected to the Internet,
which enables the system to be remotely monitored and
controlled.
Why is Naturalwatt’s MicroGrid® System a first?
The Naturalwatt MicroGrid® is a scalable, modular,
domestic and commercial energy supply that can harvest
solar, wind and water power. And because the software
running the MicroGrid® uses a weather report data feed,
the system can adapt intelligently to changing weather
patterns.
How it works
At the heart of every Naturalwatt MicroGrid® is the
MicroGrid® controller and battery bank. It’s what makes
the Naturalwatt system unique; it manages energy usage,
allowing you to store energy that you’re not using for
later, or use energy you’ve stored previously when you
need it. This is a breakthrough in the usability of
clean, renewable energy.
The energy generated by the system can come in two
forms. High grade energy in the shape of electricity
that can be put to any use and low grade energy in the
form of heat.
