Leading UK architectural aluminium systems
supplier Kawneer has enhanced its AA®100 curtain walling system
with the launch of structurally glazed (SSG) and horizontally
capped (HC) options.
The developments come in response to specifiers’ and designers’
ever-increasing demands for more flexible and more sophisticated
curtain wall systems that offer total engineered design
solutions.
The SSG option allows a flush appearance to the exterior of
stick frame curtain walling to be achieved without the use of
visible facecaps. As well as being more aesthetically pleasing,
it is also more cost effective due to quick installation on site
and reduced time fabricating and installing pressure plates and
facecaps.
Constructed with structural silicone sealant and an integrated
channel profile around the perimeter of the glazing unit, the
system utilises toggle clips positioned on the mullions and
transoms, to locate into the channel profile and provide the
mechanical retention necessary to secure the pane to the curtain
wall.
This dry-jointed, mullion drained system utilises
specially-designed EDPM mouldings and is capable of
accommodating glazing infills up to 37mm. Designed for use with
both Kawneer’s AA®100 (50mm) and AA®110 (65mm) curtain wall
systems, it is tested and certified to CWCT Sequence B and meets
the requirements of Document L and Document J in Scotland.
The HC system completes the AA®100 curtain wall range to offer
total flexibility to specifiers, offering a variety of
distinctive facecaps to highlight horizontal features of the
building envelope.
The new options were launched to approximately 200 members of
Kawneer’s network of approved installers by its team of
architectural advisers in a two-week series of best practice
roadshows and practical workshops that took in Newcastle,
Gloucestershire, Potters Bar, Coventry, Bathgate in Scotland as
well as Kawneer’s home town of Runcorn.
