Formica Limited is proud to
have become a supporter of Architects for Aid.
Architects for Aid (A4A) takes on post-disaster
reconstruction and development. It works with local,
national and international aid organisations,
charities and NGOs, aiming to promote capacity
building, livelihood creation and skill sharing.
Maxwell Hutchinson, chairman and co-founder of A4A
says: “We can provide the experience and expertise,
but without sponsorship such worthwhile projects
would not be happening. Shelter is a very
under-served sector in disaster relief and
sustainable development. Charities often avoid
building work because it is hard to get right, hard
to project manage and can be costly when things go
wrong. Good buildings last and can be an integral
part of the community for years, creating a truly
sustainable project. With A4A’s help buildings can
be done better, cheaper and more ecologically.”
Simon Wild, Marketing Manager at Formica Limited
comments: “We support A4A’s aims and mission. The
work Architects for Aid carries out, and the links
it has with the architectural, building and
engineering professions, were both motivators for
our sponsorship of the charity.”
Already working on numerous projects across the
world, Architects for Aid also offers a range of CPD
registered courses appropriate to all built
environment professionals interested in humanitarian
architecture and development practice.
