ARDEX UK, world leaders in
premium performance tile fixing products and support
services, are delighted to have been selected to
provide the ideal natural stone fixing solution for
the impressive new BBC Scotland Headquarters at
Pacific Quay, Glasgow.
Bovis Lend Lease commissioned specialist stone
contractors, Watson Stonecraft to specify the ideal
fixing solution for 1500m2 of Lazenby Stone
throughout various areas within the building,
including the main reception, audience corridors and
lift cars. Watson Stonecraft specified ARDEX S 20
rapid drying natural stone adhesive which has been
proven to be the most advanced solution for the
installation of uncalibrated natural stone as it can
be applied from 5mm – 20mm adhesive bed thickness.
As with all ARDEX natural stone products, ARDEX S 20
incorporates the ARDEX 'Rapidry Formula' technology
which has been developed to provide practical
solutions to the problem of water staining occurring
in natural stone tiles. This unsightly staining is
frequently caused when moisture from traditional
tile adhesives and grouts is absorbed into the
stone, reacting with minerals such as iron oxides or
organic deposits, which can discolour the face
and/or edges of natural stone tiles. 'Rapidry
Formula' technology literally 'locks' the mix water
within the mortar virtually eliminating the risk of
water staining. Another benefit of ARDEX S 20 is its
rapid, controlled drying and hardening, which allows
natural stones to be walked on and grouted only 3
hours after fixing, helping to minimise downtime.
“We are keen advocates of ARDEX as they not only
manufacture a superb range of construction products,
but they match this with a level of technical
support and customer service which is second to
none. As expected, ARDEX S 20 rapid drying and
hardening natural stone adhesive delivered
remarkable results for this prestigious new build
project,” remarked Tommy Bell, Contracts Manager of
Watson Stonecraft.
