ventilation equipment in Coventry School
Weatherite Building Services have installed a new kitchen
ventilation system at Westwood School in Coventry.
The project is part of an ongoing programme by Coventry City Council
to upgrade all their schools’ kitchens to bring them in line with
new European environmental legislation.
Weatherite’s scope included installing an island mounted kitchen
ventilation canopy, ductwork systems and fans, a gas interlock
system and duct mounted heating coil to temper the replacement air
to the kitchen, as well as replacing all the existing kitchen pipe
work.
The new system is operated via a single integrated control panel,
allowing the user to change the settings at the touch of a button.
Mike Turton, sales director, Weatherite, commented: “This job was
not without problems as the building had to be stripped of asbestos
before our work could commence. However, despite this we still
managed to complete the installation during the summer holidays
before the children returned to school.
“We have received positive feedback from staff that the new
ventilation system has created a much improved environment in the
kitchen area and we look forward to carrying out further projects
for Coventry City Council in the future.”
