Telling Lime Products Ltd - FOAMGLAS™ and Lime Insulated Render Cladding

Telling Lime Products have entered in to a collaborative agreement with Pittsburgh Corning (PC UK) to develop an insulated render system that claims remarkable characteristics to surpass those of the currently available systems.

Sustainability
• The FOAMGLAS™ insulant is a dense cellular glass slab, manufactured from 66% recycled glass.
• The render systems are manufactured from hydraulic lime mined from naturally occurring limestone
• Colours are derived from ochres created from natural iron oxides and mineral pigments.

Stability
• The FOAMGLAS™ can be demonstrated to have a life cycle of 50-100 years with surety that the thermal value of the slab will not diminish. The material is inert and unaffected by moisture.

Fire
• FOAMGLAS™ is classified as non combustible toEuroClass A1 – no contribution to fire, as are the mineral hydraulic lime renders.

Impact Resistance
• When rendered with the natural hydraulic lime and bonded to a stable substrate the FOAMGLAS™ will provide the characteristics of a thermal masonry unit in terms of impact resistance and sound resonance.

Appearance
• Unilit Natural hydraulic lime plastering material enable the render to be applied to create traditional Stucco without synthetic textured effect or colouring. Traditional render features of ashlar grooves and struck joints can be formed in the render

Carbon Neutral/The Environment
• Harmful CO2 emissions acknowledged as being a major cause of the greenhouse effect occur during the production of both cement and lime. However lime mortars are burnt at temperatures between 900°C and 1200°C and cement exceeds 1450°C. More energy is therefore required for the production of cement. Additionally, a study of the lime cycle indicates that an equal amount of CO2 is retained during the carbonation process as is released during the burning of limestone. Consequently, lime mortar is ecologically more preferable product.

• FOAMGLAS™ has a global warming potential of less than 5.
