Kawneer - Launches sustainable CPD
Architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer has
launched a RIBA-approved CPD to advise architects about
their options when it comes to specifying sustainable
products and systems.
The presentation educates specifiers that aluminium
curtain walling, windows and doors as supplied by
Kawneer are manufactured to become part of the solution
to sustainability, not part of the problem.
Already part of the Alcoa group that has planted more
than one million trees and pledged to become greenhouse
gas neutral by 2020, Kawneer’s parentage is one of the
top three sustainable companies in the world and one of
the world’s top low carbon pioneers.
The CPD details the life cycle of aluminium – how it is
mined and processed, how much of the raw material is
available, how land is regenerated, the material’s
sustainability and the recycling process and the huge
industry that has grown up around it.
It also advises on the many sustainable solutions for
the building envelope available using aluminium and the
different technologies it can assimilate, such as
photovoltaics which can be directly integrated into the
structure or skin of the building through the use of
curtain walling, roof tops, glazed slopes and sunshades.
The one-hour CPD is the fifth RIBA-approved CPD
available from Kawneer. Like its predecessors, this
latest CPD conforms to RIBA’s strict best practice
guidelines with certificates issued on successful
completion.
