Formica Limited - Brand new competition for emerging designers
to be launched at 100% Design
THE FORMICA® DESIGN AWARD - STAND E90
An exciting new competition for emerging designers, the
Formica® Design Award 2007/08, is being launched at 100%
Design this year. Set in the context of a sports
stadium, designers from many different disciplines will
be given the opportunity to let their imagination and
skills shine. From 3D, to product and furniture design,
and graphic design through to interior and spatial
design, the competition will contain elements which
appeal to all.
The sports stadia environment throws up many interesting
challenges and considerations, especially given the
various changing demands on such spaces. Exciting and
topical, the stadium theme offers plenty of scope. The
concept blueprints for this competition are being
provided by the architectural company SMC Group to give
that added ‘real life’ context.
The competition will be split into four spatial
categories, the entrance hall, public washroom, VIP
hospitality suite and retail space. Entrants will be
able to design specific elements within these areas, or
the whole interior scheme. Full details will be

challenging competition, which explores the technical
capabilities of the Formica® portfolio of surfacing
materials.”
The competition is open to all emerging designers in the
UK and will close at the end of February 2008. Prize
money, work experience and/or design development will be
offered to the winner.
Formica Limited will also be showcasing its latest
products on its stand, E90, at 100% Design. These
include:
• The brand new Formica® Veneer range comprising of
laminates that incorporate sustainable real wood veneers
and authentic textures for that added touch of luxury
• The new Formica DecoMetal® range where laminates that
incorporate real metallic foils provide visually
striking and tactile surfaces
• The exciting bespoke digital and screen printing
service, which allows designers to transpose any image
into High Pressure Laminate
