Cross Services Engineering Ltd - Cross to provide home comforts
for the homeless
Multi discipline engineering company Cross Services
Engineering Limited (CSEL) has won the contract to play
a pivotal role in the construction of a new resettlement
and rehabilitation centre for the homeless. CSEL will
deliver a £500k electrical, security, heating and
ventilation infrastructure for the entire facility in
Darwen, Lancashire.
The resettlement centre is designed to provide
previously homeless people with the living and work
skills necessary to integrate themselves into the
community. The building will house occupants in thirty
flats, three of which have been designed to meet the
standards of the Disabled Discrimination Act, with
workshops on the ground floor being the centre of
activity during the day. For this important development,
primary contractor Conlon Construction has turned to St.
Helen's based CSEL to deliver the electrical, security
and heating systems across the site as it enjoys a
strong relationship with the company, following many
previous successful projects.
CSEL will install a sophisticated electrical system that
will make use of solar panel technology to power the
entire facility. The systems to be delivered will also
include innovative installation features which will
offer the primary contractor a complete, time saving,
and cost effective 'one stop shop' solution for the
building infrastructure.
CSEL's project manager Andy Barton comments: "We enjoy a

delivered a number of similar high specification
projects for them in the past, and we are delighted to
have been chosen once again.

will eventually give people the chance to get back on
their feet, and the system we deliver will provide the
