Advanced Ergonomic Technologies - AET's Movinord moves into
Canary Wharf
An installation of Movinord fully demountable
partitioning is now enjoying a prime presence in Canary
Wharf. Exclusive UK distributor Advanced Ergonomic
Technologies has supplied Movinord’s M92 Executive range
of products to a major bank in Canada Square.
AET secured the prestigious contract because of the
quality of the Movinord system and the company’s ability
to offer a rapid delivery turnaround on the order in a
little over five weeks. Typically, for such a high
quality partitioning solution a ten to twelve week lead
time is usual.
“The client had been let down on manufacturing lead
times by their existing supplier” says Anne Marriner,
AET’s Interiors Manager. “When the contractor asked us
to help out, we were in the great position of being able
to deliver a high quality system, very, very quickly”.
AET’s Movinord steel framed partitions for this project
are designed to allow easy relocation of the system from
the trading floor where it now stands to another floor
within the same building with lower ceiling heights at a
later date. Thus, the 3600mm high partitioning features
a transom bar in both the double glazed and solid
modules at 2600mm to facilitate this adjustment and
re-use.
In addition, AET’s solution incorporates unusual
U-channel deflection joints fitted at both the ceiling
and walls. This builds flexibility into the Movinord
partitioning, allowing for a continuous movement of +/-
20mm throughout the life of the installation to
accommodate floor plate sag, wind loading and the risk
of terrorist activity which can all cause movement in
modern buildings. Without these deflection joints,
stresses can build up where the partitioning meets the
building structure which may cause glazed sections to
shatter and the fit of doors to deteriorate.
Manufactured in Spain for many years, Movinord
partitioning is renowned for its strength and ease of
installation. The M92 Executive system as installed at
Canary Wharf is constructed of a powder coated steel
framework with double glazing and high density chipboard
solid panels. These panels are suspended from the 16
gauge steel bracing by the use of metal zeds which
locate into pre-drilled fixings in the panels. The
glazing is held in place by bars which may be removed on
a panel by panel basis, thus allowing replacement in the
event of breakage after installation, without the need
to demount a whole run of partitioning.
