Viessmann - Big savings for hot workers
Fire and rescue work is hard and often dirty. When they
came to renew the heating and hot water services in
Bolton’s Central fire station Greater Manchester Fire &
Rescue Service Building and Estates Department wanted to
ensure high efficiency as well as meeting the station’s
considerable heating and hot water loads. Four Viessmann
Vitodens 300 condensing boilers at 66kW each, were
installed in a cascade system.
This configuration contributes to energy saving and to
carbon reduction in two ways. The boilers have a
combustion efficiency of 98% and with their MatriX
burners low NOX and other flue emissions. The cascade
system, linked to weather compensation, means that loads
and demand are always closely matched as effectively the
heating can operate at as low as a 16:1 turndown ratio.
This ensures condensing operation across virtually the
whole operating cycle of the heating system.
