Ridgeons - Casts lights on solar power
In a drive to promote renewable energy products,
merchant Ridgeons has installed a solar energy working
display at one of its key branches. The display is
designed to demonstrate solar gain and the associated
energy savings.
The display at the company’s Cromwell Road branch in
south Cambridge features the Grant solar thermal range
which is designed to generate up to 70% of the annual
hot water requirements of a typical home. Product Group
Manager Dave Jordan says: “Solar power is a proven
technology which has had relatively limited take up so
far in the UK but we believe that it is on the verge of
taking off. House builders are under government pressure
to reduce the energy consumption of new homes and
householders are generally more interested in new
technologies that can help them save money whilst
reducing their carbon footprint. We are looking to
promote solar power as part of our renewable energy
offer and with a working display we can more easily
demonstrate its benefits.”
Ridgeons is a major stockist for both Grant Sahara and
Aurora solar kits and Wolf Solar Technology heating
packs. The company also stocks open vented and unvented
cylinders designed for solar heating systems. The full
range is featured in Ridgeons’ Plumbing & Heating guide
which also gives guidelines on cylinder sizing.
As part of its service to installers, Ridgeons can also
provide assistance with system design offering bespoke
solar packs.
