Marshalls plc - Marshalls Launch PlayPave its New Innovative
Hybrid Safety Paving
Marshalls plc, the UK’s leading hard
landscaping manufacturer, has launched a new hybrid
safety paving - PlayPave. Blending the robustness and
durability of a Marshalls’ concrete paving slab with a
25mm top layer of rubber, the company has created the
perfect solution for a safe protective surface that
requires no costly specialist installation or
maintenance processes throughout its lifecycle.
The new Marshalls PlayPave range is available in a
myriad of exciting and vibrant colours to stimulate
children’s sensory experiences. It is supported by a
suite of standard graphic packages including hopscotch,
shapes, numbers and letters to encourage outdoor
learning opportunities and promote physical exercise; a
series of the graphics support the Government’s 5-A-Day
campaign. The images of food can then be incorporated
into an exciting, creative outdoor learning activity
promoting healthy eating along with play.
Marshalls PlayPave range includes a bespoke graphics
service. This enables Clients to create a tailor-made
innovative surface design to complement their scheme.
PlayPave can also be shaped (to order) to fit around
play equipment and street furniture to ensure a clean,
aesthetic installation.
Supplied initially in a 450x450x57mm plan size with a
chamfered edge, installing PlayPave is no different to
any traditional paving flag method. This method negates
the need for a specialist protective surface
installation company and drives down the cost especially
on colour heavy schemes.
PlayPave is available in three unique propositions:
Smooth – for the functional application; Textured – that
creates a richer deep surface aesthetic and Flecked - a
vibrant multicolour textured surface.
The rubber surface is guaranteed to be a constant depth
which cannot always be ensured with certain other
protective surface products in the market. This means
full compliance to PlayPave’s 600mm Critical Fall Height
(CFH) is met at all times keeping children safe as they
play and learn. This is supported by PlayPave’s
excellent wear, slip/skid resistance and durability
qualities.
If maintenance is required in areas of exceptional
activity during the course of its life, the cost of
uplift and reinstallation of PlayPave is simple and
minimal in cost when compared to the alternative wet
pour product.
PlayPave’s unique benefits are ideally suited for
nurseries, primary schools and public parks where an
impact absorbing surface is beneficial or required.
Marshalls donated its first PlayPave product to The
Centrepoint Garden that was exhibiting at RHS Hampton
Court Flower Show 2007 recently. Centrepoint is the
leading charity in the UK helping homeless and socially
excluded young people to rebuild their lives. Many have
escaped cruel pasts or have fallen into the trap of
addiction. Centrepoint provides a home, as well as
training opportunities to help build new firm
foundations for the future.
Steve Reddington, Product Manager, Marshalls said: “To
support Centrepoint in its mission to create their RHS
Show Garden and future development has been a privilege.
The Garden embodies all their young people’s wishes to
help create the perfect environment. Play is a vital
component of this development; helping bind people and
communities together. Marshalls PlayPave ensures that
this experience is enjoyed in a safe space.”
The donated Marshalls PlayPave is now to be sited
permanently at one of Centrepoint’s hostel gardens. This
will form the basis of a much-needed makeover and be
part of the process to help build the new futures.
Marshalls is committed to ensure that tomorrow’s Play
landscapes are creative and fun, and offer a safe
environment which children now and in future generations
can enjoy.
