Cembrit Blunn Ltd - Range of fibre cement slates on offer from
Cembrit Blunn
Cembrit Blunn, specialist in natural and fibre cement
slates, has created a brand new series of five technical
data sheets for high quality fibre cement slates. The
datasheets are available free to roofing specifiers,
stockists and installers by calling 0208 301 8900 or
visiting www.cembritblunn.co.uk.
The five types of fibre cement slate are available in a
total of seven colours and form part of the company’s
comprehensive range of premium roofing slates for the UK
market. The technical datasheets contain inspirational
photographs, fixing recommendations, sitework guidance
and comprehensive technical data which, if followed,
will give a problem free project.
Westerland slate is available in blue-black, graphite
and welsh blue and has an appearance very close to that
of natural slate. Its riven surface and natural dressed
edges make it an ideal solution for situations where a
traditional appearance is important. Alternatively,
blue-black Zeeland slate offers a riven surface with
clean square edges and, like other slates in the fibre
cement range, are vermin and rot proof whilst an acrylic
coating reduces potential growth of moss and lichen.
Cembrit Blunn’s Jutland slate offers the greatest colour
choice with graphite, blue-black, russet and autumn
brown and comes in three sizes, all available in this
flat, square edged slate. Moorland slate is a
distinctive blue-black and is manufactured with a smooth
surface and dressed edge to give the appearance of a
natural slate from floor level, whilst retaining all the
fixing benefits of man-made slate. The fifth and final
slate is the Diamond slate, available in blue-black,
russet or brown. Reminiscent of the original ‘red
diamond’ slates, the Diamond range is ideal for the
specifier or contractor working on refurbishment
projects as the finished effect supplies a ‘retro’ feel
whilst recreating the original appearance.
“Cembrit Blunn’s fibre cement slate range is the ideal
solution for specifiers looking for a man-made slate
that has the appearance of natural slate,” says Ged
Ferris, Marketing Manager at Cembrit Blunn. “Fibre
cement slates are cost effective, lightweight, and do
not require grading and sorting. They are suitable for
all types of commercial and residential project and are
particularly popular for re-refurbishment of 19th
century properties. Cembrit Blunn has a fibre cement
slate for every taste and budget.”
Each slate in the fibre cement range is pre-holed to
offer a consistent size, weight and thickness, ensuring
regularity and simplicity when fixing. Fibre cement
slates from Cembrit Blunn are manufactured using
Portland cement together with a non-asbestos formulation
of blended synthetic and cellulose fibres. Each slate is
pigmented during production and fully compressed. They
are then finished with a high quality, semi-matt acrylic
coloured coating to the top face and edges, and a clear
binder to the back face.
Using skills built up over 80 years, Cembrit Blunn
select natural slate from Spain, Canada, Brazil, China,
India and the countries of Western Europe. From UK
quarries Cembrit®Blunn offer Welsh, Cornish and
Westmorland slates. Quality levels at Group factories
are rigorously maintained to high standards with fibre
cement slates produced to BS EN 492:2004 and
manufactured under the control of a BS EN ISO 9001: 2000
quality management system. Cembrit Blunn is a member of
the Dansk Eternit Holding A/S Group of Denmark, one of
Europe’s major building material producers of fibre
reinforced cement products for the roofing and cladding
industry. The ultimate parent company FL Smidth this
year celebrates its 125 year anniversary.
