Bovis Lend Lease UK - Procurement Head is elected as Chartered Institute Vice Chair

Nigel McKay, Head of Procurement at Bovis Lend Lease UK, has been elected to the position of Vice Chair of the Construction Procurement Group, a special interest group (SIG) at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
Nigel has taken up the immediate position for a three year tenure, following approval from the Construction Procurement Group management team this month with the aim of taking over the chairmanship of the group in 2010 as is customary for past vice chairs.
His appointment not only reinforces his procurement expertise, but also recognises Bovis Lend Lease’s contribution to raising the standards of supply chain management across the industry. In his new role, Nigel’s immediate agenda is to set a new vision and direction for the 800+ members of the group and to tackle the current challenges of sustainability and scarcity of supply leading up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
He said: “I am delighted to have been elected to this position and I hope I can bring a broad perspective to the work I will do with the CIPS, drawing on my 30 years of supply chain management experience. I am particularly interested in the financial influence that major contractors can use to work with the supply chain and help both parties to grow their businesses. The industry needs to work together to focus on long term relationships and partnering in order to cope with the increasing demands on resources over the coming years.”
Murray Coleman, CEO of Bovis Lend Lease UK, commented: “This is great news and I congratulate Nigel. His appointment shows that our senior management are recognised as being industry leaders and as we continue to push the boundaries in procurement, we hope to be able to pass our experience and best practice onto the construction industry via the CIPS.”
