Youthbuilding Forum - Search Begins for Youthbuilder of the Year
The Youthbuilding Forum is calling for training
providers and contractors to put forward trainees and
students to enter this year's annual Youthbuilding
Awards.
John Montague, Chairman of the Youthbuilding Forum,
said: "Last year saw an increase in the number of
trainees entering the Award and we are delighted to have
been able to extend the awards from 16 to 24 year olds,
to provide a new category for 14 to 19 years olds as
well."
"Youthbuilding projects have been running for 18 years
and in that time have helped over 4,000 young people,
who wouldn't necessarily have the chance to work in the
construction industry, to gain skills, qualifications
and employment by working on housing projects.
"We are looking for students who training providers feel
have achieved outstanding growth, both professionally
and personally over the course of a project, as well as
entrants who may not have been able to access employment
in the construction industry without the scheme's help."
An award of up to £4000, sponsored by NHBC, will be
presented to the overall winner at this year's
Youthbuilding presentation on 11 October 2007 at
Westminster Palace. The Awards ceremony will be hosted
by the Right Honourable Andrew Smith MP, who assisted in
the development of the Youthbuilding programme under his
welfare-to-work policy.
