HLM Architects - Lewisham schools reach financial close
Childeric and Ashmead primary schools, part of the
Lewisham Schools £70 million PFI project being delivered
by the Bouygues Education Consortium, have achieved
financial close.
The primary schools, designed by HLM Architects in close
consultation with the London Borough of Lewisham and
school administration, provide new building facilities
on both sites for children from nursery through to year
6 in both single and two form entry.
The Childeric primary school project will replace the
existing deteriorating building with a new bespoke
building to house both the Primary and nursery
facilities, as well as help provide the optimum
conditions for raising education standards in the
Borough. At Ashmead, the new two-storey school building
will create brand new state-of-the-art facilities and
enhanced outdoor amenity space to replace the current
unsuitable buildings which currently house the primary
and nursery accommodation. The new design will enable
quality modern teaching to be carried out at all levels
of primary education.
Construction of Childeric School has recently commenced
with completion due in December 2007 and Asmead school
is expected to complete in October 2008.
