Gent by Honeywell - Protecting your investment with Gent, by
preventing built in obsolescence………
Gent by Honeywell has long been a leading innovator
in the fire industry. It was the first company to
introduce optical heat multi-sensors and loop-integrated
sounder, speech and strobe functionalities to the
market. Its latest innovation, the S-Quad sensor, is now
arguably the most sophisticated fire sensor on the
market. With this dedication to innovation and to
continuously improving the integrity of fire detection,
Gent is mindful that customer support and peace of mind
is paramount. It also goes without saying that with
energy efficiency high on everyone’s agenda these days,
Gent has designed its sensor with this in mind!
You see, Gent believe there is another way to take
advantage of new technology and to do it more
efficiently. Through Gent’s unique backwards
compatibility policy, the investment made by customers
is always protected. And in the process the energy
consumption associated with wasteful obsolescence is
reduced. Gent have designed their equipment such that
even if one of its fire detection installations is up to
20 years old, the latest technology can be applied to
upgrade it without the need to scrap the original
infrastructure. All the benefits of the new, without
having to throw away the old.
Other manufacturers may require that a system be
scrapped in order to install new technology into an
extension of an existing site. Gent however, by avoiding
this designed obsolescence, avoids the total replacement
of older installations in order to install new
technology, and consequently the end customer can spend
less on upgrading their system. Of course a further
benefit is that clients need only hold spares for the
newer technology and avoid the higher cost of spares (or
indeed consequent system replacement) for products no
longer manufactured.
Energy efficiencies are also made by installing a single
S-Quad which acts as sensor, sounder, speech and strobe
- less energy to install and cheaper than running
separate devices - four for the price of one!
