rack cooling solution
LogiCool, a new generation of modular, free-cooling,
R410A chillers has been launched by Airedale to provide
an expandable, energy efficient solution for cooling the
increasing heat loads of high density servers.
Designed to supply chilled water directly to a
rack-mounted air/water heat exchanger, LogiCool can also
be matched with other direct rack cooling solutions from
leading rack producers and be linked to Airedale and
other manufacturers’ airside cooling systems in business
critical technical areas.
An integrated, ‘simultaneous mechanical and
free-cooling’ solution and innovative digital scroll
compressor technology contribute significantly to
LogiCool’s ability to reduce whole life cycle costs.
Continuous system operation and the temperatures of a
server environment in relation to the outdoor
temperature, allow LogiCool to operate in free-cooling
mode most of the time. The free-cooling operates with as
little as 1ºC differential between ambient and return
fluid temperatures. With 0-100% free-cooling capability,
LogiCool will always use free-cooling first before
initiating mechanical top-up, giving substantial energy
savings throughout the year. When mechanical cooling is
required, LogiCool has excellent EER, ESEER and FSEER*
values (up to 2.6, 3.0 and 4.2 respectively). Add to
this the ability of LogiCool to self-optimise and the
very large surface area cooling coils which lengthen the
periods of free-cooling, and LogiCool typically saves
more than 45%** of the energy consumed by a conventional
chiller.
Tandem digital scroll compressor technology combined
with advanced AireTronix controls technology and
electronic expansion valves offer full modulating
control of the unit DX capacity, achieving unmatched
part load efficiencies. Cleverly-designed axial fans
using latest EC technology give increased performance at
reduced power input.
Available in 20kW and 40kW cooling modules, with a
single DX circuit, LogiCool is configured for outside
installation, thereby freeing up valuable indoor space.
Its compact footprint (from 1.5m²) and modular design
allow close, side-by-side positioning. Additional
chillers can be designed in and simply added on as
cooling load increases. LogiCool offers flexible,
multi-rack cooling by an individual unit or by a number
of units with run/standby and optional sequencing
capability.
All refrigeration and water components have been
ingeniously contained within an acoustically-lined,
fully-enclosed section away from the unit air flow.
LogiCool is supplied ready to connect, with front
access, easily removable panels and lift-up control
panel facilitating commissioning and maintenance.
* FSEER (Free-cooling Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
is an Airedale rating based on the part load efficiency
of LogiCool over a year and incorporates the benefits of
free-cooling.

London, UK at fluid temperatures 10/15ºC, 20% ethylene
glycol.
