RPA Architecture - RPA Architecture makes grand plans for Grand
Ocean
RPA Architecture (headed up by former RIBA
Vice-President Tim Forsyth) has undertaken the
construction drawings on behalf of Explore Living for
the refurbishment and re-development of the former Grand
Ocean Hotel in Saltdean, East Sussex to create 279
apartments and a 210-space underground car park.
RPA produced construction drawings for the new
development which will retain the hotel’s iconic art
deco façade whist incorporating four newly built blocks
of apartments. The new apartments will be in keeping
with the character of the 1930s Grade II listed former
hotel which was once owned by Butlins.
Tim Forsyth of RPA Architecture said: “This has been a
very challenging and interesting project for us. The
working drawings have had to take into account the
period of the existing buildings and we have also had to
consider the effect of the local maritime conditions on
any new structures.”
