P+HS Architects - to lead team of experts on Nuffield Development Programme

P+HS Architects has been appointed to the Nuffield Hospitals framework agreement, following a rigorous selection process. The appointment is worth in excess of £10m to the Practice each year.
As Britain’s longest standing not-for-profit group of independent hospitals, Nuffield Hospitals provides healthcare that is made accessible and affordable to as many people as possible from a property base of 40 hospitals, and range of other treatment facilities.
Bringing the procurement of architectural services under one central strategy Nuffield has chosen a very select team to deliver its vision for the future. The team of architects, engineers, project managers and quantity surveyors, will collectively run a coordinated programme of development and improvements over the next three years.
P+HS Architects, based in Leeds and Stokesley (North Yorkshire) is one of the two Architects chosen due to its vast experience and very specialist knowledge in the healthcare sector.
Nuffield Hospitals, Head of Procurement, Andrew Jones said, “P+HS presented a very strong team equally matched by its response to the tender. P+HS demonstrated significant experience and understanding of the healthcare sector which is critical. We liked the fact that it is a smaller Practice and the ‘hands on’ team includes the Managing Director, Chris Potter, you don’t always get that level of involvement with larger Practices.”
P+HS is partnering with Davis Langdon, White Young Green and Kendall Kingscott to work alongside Nuffield on a programme of works which will include the development of new facilities and remodelling of interiors. Specifically P+HS will lead the planning and design requirements for the 20 sites located throughout the North and as far South as Birmingham.
Chris Potter, Managing Director at P+HS Architects comments, “We are of course delighted to be appointed to the team of experts for Nuffield. P+HS has a wealth of experience in every aspect of acute healthcare having worked on over 100 healthcare projects of varying sizes and complexity over the past twenty four years. We will offer considerable expertise to help deliver cutting edge facilities for the client to sustain their position at the forefront of excellence in healthcare.”
Work has already started for a major £7.7 million upgrading and redevelopment programme for Nuffield in Newcastle, enhancing the services delivered from this busy and successful hospital, together with a complete remodelling of the interior space.
P+HS has dedicated a team to work solely on the Nuffield projects, with the contract having secured a key long term sector of work for the Practice. As a result it is undergoing a recruitment drive to further enhance its expertise in this and its other key sectors of expertise; Housing and Education.
