Design Group 3 Architects - Making the most of Manchester's Ship
Canal
The Ancoats area of Manchester’s ship canal is set to
be transformed with a stunning new £80 million mixed use
development by design-led practice, Design Group 3
Architects.
Victoria Works is situated in heart of the East
Manchester Regeneration Area and sits on the site of a
former derelict mill building.
The scheme has been designed to create an impressive
landmark in Ancoats, and will provide 680 contemporary
one, two and three bed apartments housed within four new
buildings, plus 20,000 sq ft of commercial and retail
space.
Phase one, named Milliner’s Wharf, is positioned on the
banks of Ashton Canal and offers 261 high specification
apartments within a contemporary eight storey zinc-clad
linear building.
Maximising the waterside location, the design of
Milliner’s Wharf ensures that each open-plan apartment
boasts fantastic views of both the canal and Manchester
city centre. Milliner’s Wharf will also feature secure
underground parking, allowing the stylish apartment
block to remain the focal point.
Design Group 3 Architects will be involved at all stages
of the construction of Milliner’s Wharf, which is due to
start on site in July.
The leading architects practice has also designed a
dramatic design proposal for phase two of the scheme,
which will comprise three stand alone buildings offering
430 dwellings, culminating in a 31-storey residential
tower. Construction for this element is due to start in
Spring 2008.
Nick Baker, group design director at Design Group 3
Architects, says: “Victoria Works is a fantastic scheme
to be involved in. Its location in the East Manchester
Regeneration Area is paramount to the future of
Manchester and we are pleased that our designs will
create a magnificent landmark for the city.
“Milliner’s Wharf is an impressive building that is
contemporary in design and offers a cutting edge living
environment. It will undoubtedly benefit the city centre
in many ways and appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers
and investors.”
Design Group 3 Architects is a design-led architectural
practice with three creative studios in Leeds, Bristol
and Brighton and a proven track record in the delivery
