SAS Integrated Service Modules offers an energy efficient alternative to traditional air conditioning
SAS Integrated Service Modules (ISMs) offer
a suspended beam solution, which integrate chilled beam
technology and luminaires with other building services.
Suspended directly from the ceiling plane or in coffers, ISMs
leave the concrete soffit open, enabling thermal mass cooling to
take place.
SAS ISMs act as a more energy efficient alternative to
traditional air conditioning methods, supplementing the passive
cooling provided by thermal mass through the incorporated
chilled beam technology. The chilled beams can be either passive
or active (where a fresh air supply is incorporated) and use
water as a heat transfer method. Efficiencies come from the
higher operating water temperature, of between 14°C and 17°C,
and the ability to combine the beams with technologies such as
free cooling and ground sourcing.
Suitable for most new or refurbished buildings, including
environments such as schools, universities and libraries, SAS
ISMs are offered in a range of aesthetically pleasing profiles
to meet all budgets. A bespoke design service is also available;
enabling architects to make a design feature of the module by
specifying unique casings, safe in the knowledge performance
will not be affected.
Meeting a building’s individual requirements, other building
services such as fire and smoke detectors, sprinkler systems,
movement sensors, voice and data cables, public address systems
and CCTV can be integrated into the ISMs. A range of acoustic
treatments can be specified, which absorb both ambient sound and
sound reflected from the structural soffit.
An additional benefit is a reduction in the space required to
house the building’s services, making such a solution ideal for
the refurbishment of 1960’s buildings. As the soffit is left
exposed an increase in the perception of the floor to ceiling
height can be achieved.
ISMs can be very flexible and are designed to fit within the
building planning grid, meaning future office and partitioning
needs can be easily accommodated. ISMs also offer low running
costs through increased efficiencies and have few moving parts,
reducing maintenance costs and providing a low life cycle cost.
SAS ISMs are manufactured off-site and delivered pre-tested,
ensuring fixed production and delivery times, and simple
installation, increasing time and cost efficiencies and greatly
reducing the risk of project overrun.
