Gent by Honeywell - S-Quad won’t leave you fuming at another false alarm
A false alarm is not only inconvenient but
is also a total waste of everyone’s time. It also has the effect
of desensitizing people to future alarms by increasing their
reluctance to respond to them at all. It is therefore extremely
important to keep the number of false alarms to an absolute
minimum wherever possible. Certain situations, however, prove
more difficult to control than others, in that a sensor might be
required, for example, to detect the difference between vehicle
exhaust gases and particulates, and smoke from a real fire.
Gent by Honeywell, long associated with quality systems and
innovation in the fire detection and alarm industry, has
developed a number of detection methods to discriminate between
real fires and nuisance situations; those where there is bound
to be some smoke or fumes from time to time.
In difficult places like warehouse loading bays, where there are
vehicle exhaust emissions present, Gent’s S-Quad multi-sensor
detectors offer the most advanced solution available, with
various adjustable sensor states for different applications. By
analysing ambient conditions, and by adjustment of the sensor
hardware and the software in the Vigilon fire control panel,
false alarms can be virtually completely eliminated.
Finally, with its integral sensor, sounder, speech and strobe,
S-Quad means fewer devices need to be fitted resulting in cost
savings at the installation stage and the added advantage that
its audio-visual alarms ensure compliance with the alarm
requirements of Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act.
