Calderdale Council Building Control - The Built In Quality Award Nominees 2007, are…..

West Yorkshire Building Control has today announced the nominees for each category at this year’s highly anticipated Built In Quality Awards 2007. The prestigious glittering occasion will be held at Bagden Hall, Huddersfield on June 14th and will celebrate high quality-building and construction within West Yorkshire.
Each category incorporates every class of building… from domestic extensions, new homes, apartments, schools and hospitals to commercial, retail and industrial properties. There are a vast range of nominees from around the region nominated this year, from large Construction and Development companies to individual home and community projects.
Some of the nominees looking to pick up these esteemed awards include: Lotus Construction Ltd, based in Otley, who are nominated for the Community Project award for the work conducted at South Parade J & I School. In the Restoration & Conversion category are Clayton Homes, for a huge townhouse and apartment conversion at Valley Mills, Elland and in the New Dwellings category are David Wilson Homes, based in Morley for property developments in Guiseley.
The awards are unique because they recognise excellent practice across a complete range of building developments. All projects, regardless of their size and complexity are judged against the Built In Quality Awards standards.
Work is assessed against a range of criteria, including site safety, structural stability, fire safety, use of materials, sound insulation, access for all and conservation of fuel and power and weather resistance. Successful schemes have been inspected throughout their construction period by local authority representatives.
Phil Deacon, Calderdale Council Building Control said: “The build up to the awards is becoming very exciting now that we have announced the nominees. The Built In Quality Awards have become synonymous with the very best of building in the region. I hope these awards will inspire all those working in the areas construction industry to new heights”.
