West Yorkshire Building Control - Prestigious Awards for Developers and Builders in West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire Building Control is rolling out the red carpet for local builders and contractors throughout the region with a showcase presentation evening.
For the last three years, council authorities from the region have organised a building quality awards scheme. The scheme identifies superior standards of building and building projects that can be eligible to qualify for the West Yorkshire Built in Quality Awards, held at Bagden Hall on 14 June 2007.
Builders undertaking projects of any size in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield have the opportunity to scoop one of these prestigious awards and the work can be any building project, from extensions and alterations to commercial developments and community projects.
The scheme is made up of 7 categories in which the nominees will be placed. These are Domestic Extensions, New Dwellings, (up to 10 units AND above 10 units), Restoration & Conversion projects, Commercial Developments, Community Projects and Sustainability.
A panel made up of a representative from each of the authorities will judge each scheme. Once the judging of the competition has taken place, strict secrecy on the outcome will be upheld until the night of the awards.
Judging will take place on a number of criteria such as compliance with Building Regulations and site environment through to customer satisfaction and sustainability.
Philip Deacon, Calderdale Council, Building Control said “These awards are the envy of the construction industry as they objectively identify and reward those that achieve the highest standards in building construction. We are thoroughly looking forward to the evening as we can finally give recognition for all the hard work and skills of West Yorkshire’s finest builders.”
The black tie event will be attended by around 200 guests and will include an “Oscar type” presentation and a three course meal and drinks. Guests will also be raising money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, with a charity auction, followed by a comedy performance from a special surprise guest.
