Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems supplied aluminium
profiles for the new extension to Enfield Primary Care Centre.
Magnum Aluminium Products Ltd, a Comar Approved Fabricator,
installed the futuristic glazed screens, entrances and windows.
The newly expanded Primary Care Centre is set in the heart of
the Enfield community and brings together a variety of health
and community care services on to a single site to provide a
more convenient patient access. The transparency of the Care
Centre façade makes the building look welcoming, accessible and
complements the design concept of hospitability.
The three storey vibrant-looking façade features Comar 6 stick
build curtain walling. On-site construction allowed accurate and
precise assembly of this complex envelope. The façade consists
of facetted elevations incorporating panes of toughened glass of
different dimensions. The transoms and mullions feature an
assortment of cover caps, bringing extra depth and dynamism to
the atrium’s glazed skin.
The main entrance needed to comply with DDA regulations and was
created with Comar 7 automatic sliding doors hung direct on to
Comar 6. A separate emergency exit incorporates Comar 7 butt
hung doors with Axim transom closers and crash bar panic exit
device.
The stone-clad elevations of the Centre’s extension used Comar 5
thermally broken top hung windows. All systems were polyester
powder coated to standard Grey RAL.
Magnum worked on the Care Centre project from the outset and
advised the architects on the systems and wind loading. Time was
a constraint and, due to close liaison throughout the design
phase, the whole extensive installation of the fenestration took
just over 2 months to complete.
