Aico Ltd -Extra control and interconnection with new Aico CO alarm

Aico Ltd has launched a unique mains powered Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm which can be interconnected with the company's RC range of smoke and heat alarms.
The new Ei261ENRC CO alarm comes with all the features and quality build that professionals have come to expect from Aico alarms, with the added benefit of interconnection to a domestic fire alarm system. When the Ei261ENRC detects dangerous levels of CO, all the alarms interconnected
on the system will sound, regardless of type.
CO alarms need to be positioned in close proximity to the appliance most likely to produce CO fumes, which is often the kitchen boiler or a fire in the living room. But if there is a CO incident during the night when occupants are asleep away from the device, they may not hear the alarm.
That's why interconnecting a CO alarm with the home's smoke alarm system is an economic way of solving the problem of audibility.
Since it is important to differentiate between a fire and a CO leak once the alarm has been raised, Aico also offers the Ei1529RC wall-mounted Alarm Control Switch. Using the Ei1529RC - which can be positioned anywhere for convenient access, similar to a light switch - residents can now quickly locate the exact alarm which has registered the fire, check the mains power, and simply and conveniently test and hush all the alarms on the system from one location.
The new Ei261ENRC CO alarm can also be interfaced with an Aico smoke detection system for the deaf to provide a vital warning of a CO leak to vulnerable people who could not otherwise hear the audible warning given from an alarm.
The Ei261ENRC CO alarm itself features rechargeable Lithium Cell back-up and a cost-saving replaceable CO sensor design. The life of a typical sensor in a CO alarm is often much shorter than the life of the alarm itself. Most units have to be thrown away and replaced when the sensor
fails, which is both wasteful and expensive. With the Ei261ENRC, a modestly-priced replacement sensor module can be plugged into the base of the unit when required, giving another 5 years of useful life.
The Ei261ENRC features the latest generation electrochemical type CO sensor which automatically checks CO levels in the environment every 80 seconds. Pre-calibrated and tested in CO gas to ensure accuracy, it is said to offer both a high level of selectivity and exceptional resistance to false alarms.
The alarm unit features both high and low level LED indicators, with a special pre alarm LED indication for detection of CO at 50ppm. When the levels detected reach dangerous levels, a red warning LED combines with an integral built in sounder outputting 85Db(A) at 3 metres to provide a
full audio-visual warning. Other indicators confirm mains power supply and fault indication.
Other features of note include a manual Test/Hush button, Easi-fit design, Quick CO Gas Test facility and a memory feature which enables the user to tell if CO has been detected during a period of absence.
Back-up in the event of mains failure is provided by sealed-in, tamperproof rechargeable Vanadium Pentoxide Lithium stand-by cells, designed to last at least ten years and capable of powering the unit for at least 30 days in the event of a mains failure.
Kitemarked to BS EN 50291: 2001, the new Ei261ENRC mains powered CO alarm from Aico Ltd. comes complete with five year guarantee.
