HL Plastics - Plastic Piling goes for a swim
Plastic Piling from HL Plastics has
recently been used within the construction of a swimming pool in
Worksop, Nottinghamshire, highlighting the versatility of this
product, which has a number of benefits within water related
applications.
The main reasons for specifying Plastic Piling were that it
doesn’t rot or rust; is resistant to chemicals used to treat the
pool water; can be easily cut; is lightweight, so easier to
handle and install in tight spaces or difficult to access areas;
and once installed is maintenance free.
In the construction of the pool, Plastic Piling was used as a
base underneath the concrete floor, as an alternative to
galvanised steel, which is more prone to rust. The profile was
specified by the contractors, Balfour Beatty, and laid flat
around the outer edge of the pool, with the panels interlocked
for security. In total 180 metres of tie back piling were used,
cut into two metre lengths to fit the space.
A more cost effective solution than steel, Plastic Piling is
also an environmentally friendly option, with a longer lifespan.
When manufactured in standard grey it’s produced from 100%
recycled materials, and as it’s lightweight is easier and
cheaper to transport, therefore reducing the impact on the
environment.
With extensive knowledge and experience in the manufacture of
Plastic Piling, HL Plastics can supply products in a variety of
lengths, all of which are manufactured and distributed direct
from their UK factory. The extensive range of piling products
can be used across a number of different applications, dependent
on strength, ease of installation and type of appearance
required.
The customer JH Flooring Ltd was impressed with the ease of
installation and overall benefits of using Plastic Piling. John
Humphries comments: “We found Plastic Piling an extremely
versatile product, and it was very easy to manoeuvre and install
within the pool, even allowing us to create curved walls. We
have already recommended it for a number of forthcoming swimming
pool projects we are working on.”
