Bond Wolfe - £100 million to go under the hammer as new Birmingham operation offers largest auction house outside London

Property consultants Bond Wolfe and Bigwood are to link up to offer ten auctions a year, making the combined operation the biggest and most successful auction house outside of London and one of the largest auctioneers in the UK.
The two firms are to remain steadfastly independent but managing director Rory Daly explained that by combining their resources they were able to offer clients a far stronger service.
“Previously Bigwood offered four auctions a year and Bond Wolfe held five, but for their own clients this sometimes meant having to wait as much as three months for the next auction.
“The reality is that they didn’t wait. They went elsewhere or sold privately. By combining our resources, Bond Wolfe and Bigwood will be able to offer ten auctions a year, with only January and August as the exceptions where we won’t be holding auctions,” he said.
“I fully expect our combined auction houses to offer in the region of £100 million worth of property over the next 12 months, which will make us the biggest and most successful auction house outside London and one of the largest in the UK.”
He stressed that Bond Wolfe and Bigwood would continue to trade independently and confirmed there was no intention to merge the practices.
The final independent auction will be on Monday, May 14, with Bond Wolfe set to run its second consecutive 100 plus lot auction this year with 111 lots going under the hammer at Aston Villa’s The Holte Suite.
Bond Wolfe managing partner James Mattin estimates that around £21.5 million worth of property and land will be available on the day.
The first joint auction will be held on Monday, June 25, with lots entered by both Bond Wolfe and Bigwood’s auction departments.
“Effectively this means that, with the exception of January and August, if someone walks through door of Bond Wolfe or Bigwood with a property or site they wish to auction, in future we can accommodate them within a matter of weeks, rather than months,” said Rory Daly.
“This will establish our new combined operation as the most powerful auction service in the Midlands and we confidently expect the number of lots and turnover to grow exponentially.”
