Balfour Beatty Construction is in line for a top RoSPA Award

Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish and Southern Ltd is in line for a top award in the Construction Industry Sector of the 2007 RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety awards.
The award will be announced at a special ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday 23rd May which runs alongside Safety & Health Expo 2007, the UK's premier health and safety at work exhibition.
David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, said "Balfour Beatty Construction has demonstrated how seriously it takes health and safety management and is a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following its lead."
Bob Clark Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish and Southern stated said: "Our approach to Health and Safety influences and interfaces with our other key business objectives to ensure that our on-site operations and everything else we do creates no risk to our workforce, our partners and the public at large. To have reached this stage in RoSPA's awards procedures is, I believe, an important endorsement of our approach to date."
The RoSPA awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place. Entering the awards scheme reinforces the message that good health and safety is good
business and clearly demonstrates an organisation's commitment to the achievement of high levels of performance in this crucial area.
The RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards 2007 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.
The President of RoSPA, Baroness Anne Gibson of Market Rasen, Deputy President, Lord Jordan of Bournville and Vice-President, Lord Brougham & Vaux will host gala dinners on May 22 - 24 for representatives of award- winning organisations at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, with
entertainment by top comedian Jimmy Carr.
